What is Engineered Hardwood?

Most engineered floorboards (also known as floating timber boards) are made with a layer of high quality hardwood as the surface. This is mounted onto a plank that is made of plywood. Engineered boards are also known as floating floorboards, because the hardwood ‘floats’ on top of this bottom later. This layer provides cushioning and a moisture barrier.

These boards deliver the warmth and variation of natural timber — gum veins, knots, and unique markings, giving it a beautifully uneven appearance — all with added strength and moisture resistance. The perfect imperfection of this timber ensures that its richness will never be lost in the finished product, making it supremely versatile and robust.

Available in single strips or book-matched double strips, our engineered Wormy Chestnut planks bring flexibility in design while retaining the natural warmth of 100% Australian recycled hardwood. Pre-finished with three coats of Loba Eco Hard Wax Oil, this flooring is ready to install with ease.
